Single Post template problem

A few weeks ago I created a single post template applied it (call it A) successfully for a number of posts.  I went away to add other content - page content and only came back to create a new post.  I think I made a mistake to have edited the single post template while opening the post to edit.  Now this new post does not have the same single post template as the others.  An old post template (O) is used instead.  The other old posts still appear with (A).  When I tried to replace (O) with (A), some section, specifically the footer, appears twice - from (O) then (A).

How do I rectify this?  Help please.  Thank you.

That sounds strange. Usually before you publish a template, Elementor asks you where you want it applied on the website. Does that right a bell to you? If yes, please let me know where each template is displayed.
