Question

Force user to complete tasks in order?

Badge

Hello! I’m very new to the world of web dev and I have a problem: my company is putting together a series of training videos, but we don’t want the users to be able to access video two until they have completed video one.

I don’t even know where to begin. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hi @jarrettbpeters welcome to tribe.

Have you already verified with new feature https://elementor.com/help/video-playlist-widget-pro/ ?

That you are asking i think that’s a feature present on members area lookline something of similar

But this is not an Eementor “problem” :)

Apparently, I did not. I have updated and now it is there but does not offer the functionality I am looking for. I want video 2 to be unavailable until video 1 has been viewed.

Thank you though!

You are welcome.
for this reason i’ve suggested you to read other links about members area because i think that’s something related to that feature (not in Elementor)

It sounds almost like you’re wanting to use a “course” format.  There are plugins like LearnDash and memberpress that offer this functionality.  It’s called “drip-content” or “drip-feed”  Dripping content is a method of releasing content to your site users. Users receive content bit by bit, perhaps over the course of a few months, until they have access to the full library. You can also dripspecific menu items or posts, requiring a user to view them in a certain order.  I think both of these above allow you to force a user to watch a video, before they can see the next one

also, double check the new Elementor video playlist widget Mario mentioned   If that works, a.) it’ll be easier and b.) it’ll be cheaper

Those both sound promising. Thank you very much!

I've gone through the settings on the video playlist widget a few times and can't seem to find what I'm looking for, but it can't hurt to check again!

Me too do not know if there is that optionin new elementor widget and probably there is not but, for this reason, i’ve suggested the line to follow about members area because that you are asking is something joined to lessons (how written by @Jarrett Peters )

As @Garythinks said this is a “drip content”. You can check this post about MemberPress plugin with this capability. https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-add-automatically-drip-content-in-your-wordpress-site/

MemberPress can easily integrate with Elementor https://memberpress.com/add-ons/elementor/
